Bureau Report
PESHAWAR, April 16: The people of various localities on Wednesday staged protest demonstration against increase in flour (atta) prices.
The demonstrators, led by leaders of the Pasban Pakistan, closed the main road in front of the Peshawar Press Club.
They were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the ever increasing prices of wheat flour and other daily-use items in the country.
The protesters were chanting slogans against the government for its alleged failure to ensure smooth supply of flour at subsidised rates to consumers.
They said people had voted the ruling parties to powers in order to redress their grievances, “but so far they have failed to take some effective steps in this regard”.
Chief organiser of the organisation Arbab Abdul Aziz and general-secretary Abdur Rehman said on the occasion accused that Punjab failed to give a helping hand in the flour crisis rather “added to the problems by imposing ban on atta transportation to NWFP”.
