KARACHI: Pre-Nov 3 judiciary soon, says Iftikhar

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 15: Deposed chief justice of the Supreme Court Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Tuesday expressed his optimism that the judiciary would soon be resorted to its Nov 2 position. “This will restore the rule of law in the country after a period of eight years,” he said.

In his telephonic address to lawyers at the Malir Bar Association, Justice Chaudhry lauded the contribution of the legal fraternity of Karachi towards the sustained movement for the supremacy of the judiciary, the rule of law and restoration of the Constitution, and said that the sacrifices offered by the legal fraternity would not go in vain.

He asked the Malir Bar members and other lawyers to call off their indefinite hunger strike, assuring them that movement was about to achieve its goal.

Justice Iftikhar condemned violent attacks on lawyers in Karachi on April 9 and offered his condolences to the bereaved families of the victims.
