MADRID, April 15: A man has been arrested in Spain as he was wandering down the street carrying the decapitated head of his mother, local authorities said Tuesday.

Angelo Carotenuto Macanas, 34, told police he had cut off his mother’s head with a large knife.

He was arrested in the town of Santomera, in the southeastern region of Murcia, on Monday night as he was telling passersby that he was carrying his mother’s head, wrapped in a dishcloth.

The local authorities said the man was known to police for committing acts of violence against his mother.—AFP
