KARACHI, April 14: Abul Sattar Parwani, father of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Farooq Sattar (MNA), passed away on Monday morning. He was 84.

Mr Parwani had been ill for some time and on Monday he suffered a heart stroke which proved fatal. He breathed his last at his home in PIB Colony.

His funeral prayers were offered in a playground in the colony. A large number of people, including his relatives, friends, MQM leaders and workers, elected representatives, city nazim, town and UC nazims, besides Syed Munawwar Hasan, Nasrullah Shajee and other Jamaat-i-Islami leaders, attended the funeral prayers and condoled with Dr Farooq Sattar.

The deceased was laid to rest in the Yasinabad graveyard.

MQM chief Altaf Hussain, PPP co-chairperson Azif Ali Zardari and leaders of various political and religious parties, in their condolence messages, have expressed their deep sorrow over the demise of Mr Parwani and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest his soul in eternal peace.
