SHIKARPUR, April 11: The Shikarpur chapter of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat, a literary organisation, has decided to launch a campaign for establishment of a university in Shikarpur to enable students of the city and neighbouring districts to avail facilities of higher education.

The secretary of the Sangat’s local chapter, Zubair Soomro, Naveed Alam Abro and Syed Naseem Bukhari told journalists that Shikarpur district was rich in educational opportunities in the past but standards had fallen alarmingly over the years.

They appealed to the governor and chief minister of Sindh to establish a university in Shikarpur, which linked different area of upper Sindh and Balochistan but where thousands of students were deprived of higher education due to lack of facilities.

They appealed to the elected representatives, intellectuals and social workers to extend cooperation to the Sangat in launching a drive for establishment of a university in Shikarpur.
