KARACHI: Six held for carjacking

Published April 12, 2008

KARACHI, April 11: The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) has claimed to have busted a gang involved in the snatching of vehicles and transporting them to other parts of the country.

A statement issued by SSP Khurram Waris on Friday said that six suspects were arrested in the renewed crackdown on carjackers in the city and three vehicles were recovered from their possession.

The recovered vehicles were stolen or snatched in different parts of the city, the statement said, adding that many complaints of carjacking or theft were registered at different police stations.

Expecting to find more clues leading to the recovery of other vehicles during the interrogation of the arrested suspects, he said cash prizes and appreciation certificates were pledged for the ACLC team that busted the gang.
