KARACHI, April 10: The CID on Thursday claimed to have seized a cache of arms and explosives lying in the bushes in Ayub Goth on Thursday.

Displaying the seized arms and explosives at a press conference, DSP Ghulam Subhani of the CID said: “We had received a tip-off that someone inside the University of Karachi was involved in collecting arms and explosives. Accordingly, a CID party moved into Ayub Goth and, during a search, found two bags lying in the bushes near the PCSIR gate of the university.”

The bags contained 10 RPG-7 rockets having a range of six kilometres, two hand-grenades and four fuse clutches, he added.

A case (No.5/2008) under Section 4/5 of the Explosives Act was registered against unknown persons.—PPI
