Solox claim bridge tournament
KARACHI, April 7: Solox with 104 victory points (VPs) claimed the Swiss League bridge tournament at the Aslam Memorial Hall on Sunday evening.
Solox with Gulzar Bilal, Jamal Nizami, Ghulam Mohammad, Anwer Kemal, Mohammad Ismail and Shahin Iqbal in their fold won four matches out of five.
They outpaced Dada 25-4, Raees 17-13, PSO 25-4 and Guruji 24-6 but lost to Candyland 14-16.
PSO produced amazing performance and claimed second position with score of 93 VPs.
It had the services of Naved Anjum, Babar Iqbal, Zahoor Kazmi and Abid Mumtaz. They won four matches and lost only to Solox.
Candyland scored 84 VPs for the third spot.
Hamed Mohiuddin, Ziaullah Baig, Ghufran Ashraf, Hasan Askari and Hussain Jafer played for Candyland. They won three matches.
In pairs’ event, the pair of Faisal Ehsan and Nadeem Khalid sprang a big surprise outplaying more experienced pairs competing from the East-West direction.
The duo scored 57 per cent for the first spot.
Anwer Kemal and Raza Naqvi scored 56.70 per cent for second place while Nasim Arzoo and Mohammad Nasim scored 55 per cent for third position.
Kader Sakaria and Mahmood Siddiqui topped from the North-South direction with a score of 55.67 percent.
S.M. Hasnain and Iliyas finished second while Dr Ahmed Hasan and Mahmood Naqvi occupied third position with 51 per cent score.—APP
