By Our Correspondent

ATTOCK, April 7: Inspector General Prisons (IGP) Punjab Sarfraz Ahmed Mufti has recommended two months’ remission for those prisoners of District Jail who were involved in petty offences.

He made this announcement during his surprise visit to the prison here on Monday.

Mr Mufti directed the jail authorities to provide maximum facilities to the detainees, as he inspected the kitchen, hospital and barracks in the jail.

He expressed his satisfaction at the facilities being provided on the prison premises. Jail Superintendent Syed Babar Ali was also present on the occasion.

Later, talking to the jail staff, the Inspector General Prisons said all resources would be utilised to provide required facilities to the prisoners. He directed the authorities to screen the visitors and make foolproof security arrangements at entry and exit points to avoid any mishap.

Mr Mufti also inspected the under-construction building for B-class prisoners.
