German company receives threats

By Munawer Azeem

ISLAMABAD, April 5: The city police are in search of a caller who had threatened a German oil and gas company with blowing up its building, police said here on Saturday.

The police said that an unidentified man called the company and said that he would blow up its building, located at I-9/3 with explosive on Friday.

The company’s (Schlumeberger) management took the threat seriously and immediately informed the local police, who along with other rescue workers, including Bomb Disposal arrived on the scene.

The rescue workers got the building vacated to carry out search operation, the police said, adding later the building was declared clear.

A case has been registered against the caller on the complaint of Waheedur Rehman, an employee of the company, under 25-D Telegraph Act. The Industrial Area police when contacted said that the company had received a number of similar calls in recent past.

The police said that they were trying to trace the callers.

The police said that it seems that all the calls were obnoxious, but they were investigating the matter seriously.
