MANSEHRA: PML-N issues notices to office-bearers

By Our Correspondent

MANSEHRA, April 5: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Mansehra chapter, has issued showcause notices to some party office-bearers and activists for running election campaign of those contesting the Feb 18 general election on other parties’ tickets, Dawn has learnt.

The notices were issued at a meeting of the party held at its secretariat here on Saturday with district president Mohammad Aslam Khan Baffa in the chair.

Babar Saleem Khan Swati, the PML-N contender from PF-53 who lost the contest, lashed out at the PML-N workers and local leaders who supported contenders of the other parties. “If such conspiracy did not happen, we would have bagged two more seats of the provincial assembly from Mansehra district.”

He alleged that the PML-N contender from NA-20, Gen (retired) Salahudeen Tirmazee, did not support him but supported another independent candidate as a result of which PML-N suffered defeat at this constituency.

He said that such elements should immediately be expelled from the party.

Speaking on the occasion the party contender from PF-53, Sajjad Paracha, alleged that his opponents hatched conspiracy against him due to which he had to withdraw from the race resulting in PML-N losing the seat to Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam.

He also alleged that the PF-53 and 54 constituencies were presented to the contenders of other parties after the PML-N formed an electoral alliance with the JUI.

The party’s district president, Aslam Khan Baffa, assured the party workers that strict action would be taken against those who betrayed the party.
