Education expo concludes

By Our Reporter

RAWALPINDI, April 4: Young students collected useful information and data on the last day of the fourth Dawn Education Expo here on Friday.

The youth swarmed the exhibition and seemed to have gathered useful information about the courses and disciplines offered by some 60 national and international universities and institutes.

The number of visitors on the second day was more than that on Thursday, as students had more time to visit the venue due to it being Friday. A majority of the stall holders seemed busy in disseminating information and replying the queries of the visitors.

Ali Hassan, a student of pre-engineering at the Oversees Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) College, told Dawn that he was interested in getting admission to software engineering and looking for a reputed British institute for future studies. He said it was easy for him to stroll around the stalls and get the relevant information than sitting in front of his computer and brows the sites of different foreign universities on the internet.

Moin Asghar Raja, a second-year student at a private commerce college, was looking for information about commerce and management. He said it was very useful to collect a lot of information about the premier educational institutes at both national and international levels.

On the other hand, representatives of different universities had a mix response to the exhibition. A female representative of an Australian institute said students had a lot of interest in getting education at international universities. Such events should also be held in other cities to outreach the potential students.

A representative of a national university said had the event been organised in the capital the response would have been higher. He, however, expressed his satisfaction over the available opportunity for the dissemination of their courses and disciplines.
