KARACHI, April 4: The Sindh High Court has issued notices to three police officials and seven others, and asked its nazir to visit the ‘fishermen village’ in Malir to see whether any encroachments have been made as alleged.

Claiming to be inheritors of possessory rights over 200-acres of land at Deh Rehri, Tappo Ibrahim Hyderi, District Malir, Noor Mohammad Jutt and other applicants submitted through Advocate Gohar Iqbal that they had applied to the board of revenue for grant of the land for the ‘fishermen village’.

Their plea for ownership rights was finally disposed of as withdrawn by the high court with the observation that they would seek their remedy from the Board of Revenue.

While their application for grant of the land was still pending before the board, they alleged, seven people, including Dawood Jutt alias Saleem Seth, his sons and Nathoo Khashkheli raided the village in order to intimidate them into delivering up their possession of the disputed property. They were accompanied by the Bin Qasim Town police officer, a deputy superintendent of police and the station house officer of the Ibrahim Hyderi police station, the applicants said.

Justice Syed Pir Ali Shah, who heard the application, ordered site inspection by the SHC nazir and issued notices in the contempt application.

Payment of maintenance

Justice Khawaja Naveed Ahmed of the Sindh High Court on Friday ordered a petitioner to pay monthly maintenance of Rs1,000 and a similar amount as arrears to his former wife and mother of his baby girl, APP adds.

The court also ordered him to pay Rs500 for every meeting with his daughter on alternate Saturdays to be arranged in the court room of Justice Khawaja Naveed.

The bench was hearing a constitutional petition filed by Mohammad Javaid Malik against his former wife, Mst Zaibunnisa, who had obtained a “Khula,” from the ADJ Central- II and Family Judge, Central- II seeking revision of the judgments in a family case.

The bench advising good behaviour towards the child disposed of the petition with the above orders.

Earlier, the counsel for the woman had informed the bench that dowry articles had been collected but the petitioner was not paying maintenance.
