Hai grabs Sindh amateur golf title

KARACHI, March 23: Pakistan’s top-notch amateur player Mohammad Ali Hai celebrated Pakistan Day by grabbing the 8th edition of the Sindh amateur golf championship which concluded here at Arabian Sea Country Club on Sunday.

Ali Hai, son of former national tennis player Khawja Saeed Hai, played rounds of 69, 73 and 75 to finish with an aggregate of 217 in order to lead on the board in the 54-hole competition.

The host club’s Sajid Khan was the runner-up after playing the third and final round five-over-par 77 with a total of 224.

Waseem Rana, who played rounds of 78, 75, and 75, secured the third spot with 228, while Ayaz Gul, Ali Sher and Mohsin Khan shared the fourth spot with 229.

Ozair Tehseen of DHA Club won the net amateur competition with a score of 216 while Mohsin Khan and Ayaz Gul tied for the runners-up spot at 217.

Tahira Nazeer won the women’s event at 159 with rounds of 77 and 82 and Beverley Harvey was second at 167.—APP
