KARACHI, March 22: Squash legend Jahangir Khan has accepted to become one of the members of the awards jury and a ‘Beyond Sport’ ambassador after an offer was made to him by none other than the former British prime minister, Tony Blair.

“It’s an honour for me that I have been chosen to contribute for the uplift of sports globally,” Jahangir said on Saturday.

“I’m pleased to have been asked to chair the inaugural ‘Beyond Sport’ awards’ and as I believe you also share these convictions about sports’ positive, inspiring and global values, I would be delighted if you could join me as a member of the awards jury and as a ‘Beyond Sport’ ambassador,” Mr Blair said in a communication to the president of World Squash Federation.

Mr Blair has also invited Jahangir as his special guest to celebrate the inaugural ‘Beyond Sport’ awards and forum in London in early 2009.
