KARACHI, March 18: Two provincial champions Javed Ansari (Sindh) and Farhan Noor (Punjab) eased to victory while NWFP champion Nouman Awan suffered defeat in the 33rd National snooker championship at Karachi Gymkhana on Tuesday.

Trailing 1-2 Javed came from behind to post a 4-2 win over NWFP’s Mohammad Aqeel the scores being 56-36, 61-69, 41-53, 66-28, 53-34, 82-54.

Farhan, on the other hand, had no difficulty in overcoming the national junior champion Ayaz Khan 4-0. He was home 54-13, 85-59, 72-60, 60-23.

Fresh from his 4-3 triumph over sixth seed Shehram Changezi the other day, Sindh’s Abdul Sattar gave yet another dazzling performance with a 4-1 victory over Nouman 37-69, 56-54, 58-43, 60-15, 66-35.

Punjab’s Mohammad Sajjad, who also created a scare by getting the better of holder Naveen Perwani 4-2 on Monday, notched up 4-1 win over Abdul Rauf Kurd from Balochistan. Final scores 65-68, 82-10, 69-5, 41-38, 68-9. His scores carry breaks of 44, 56, 60 and 68 in the first, second, third and fifth frames.
