SHIKARPUR, March 17: Traders observed complete shutter down strike in Khanpur town on Monday to protest against the police to curb criminal activities in the area.

Joined by the people, the traders also took out a rally which emerged from the Eidgah and ended outside the taluka nazim office where the participants staged a demonstration.

Speaking on the occasion, traders’ leaders and concerned citizens, including Haji Abdul Latif Sethar and Nisar Bukhari, expressed concern over police failure to control crimes. They accused the Khanpur police of encouraging anti-social and criminal elements of the town and adjoining areas instead of providing protection to the people.

The protesters demanded action against inefficient officials of the Khanpur police station and their immediate transfer. They threatened to continue protest till the acceptance of their demands.

DIES: A victim of bandits’ attack succumbed to injuries at the Shikarpur Civil Hospital on Monday.

Gaaman Jagirani was seriously injured by robbers on Shaho Labano link road two days ago when he was going to his Nihal village after visiting an exhibition at the Spring Festival in Wazirabad. He was admitted to a Sukkur hospital where he died.
