BAHAWALPUR, Feb 15: A full bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday dismissed a writ petition filed by a PML-N candidate Makhdoom Syed Ali Hasan Gilani challenging the rejection of his nomination papers for NA-183 by a returning officer.

His counsel, Mumtaz Husain Bazmi, said Justice M Bilal Khan, Justice Tariq Shamim and Justice Hasnat Ahmad heard the petition at the LHC’s principal seat in Lahore and dismissed it.

The RO had rejected Gillani’s nomination papers on an objection raised by Ahmedpur East tehsil municipal administration (TMA), which contended that he had defaulted on its around Rs300,000.

Gilani challenged the rejection of his nomination papers in the Supreme Court but the apex court directed him to approach the LHC.
