Shujaat says he was misquoted

LAHORE, Feb 4: PML President and former prime minister Shujaat Husain says he was misquoted by the media which covered its last week press conference in Karachi.

“I did not speak about Lal Masjid, Balochistan or Atta crisis, but the media totally misquoted me. Such things always harm the peaceful atmosphere in the country,” a PML press release said.

According to the release, the PML president was talking to newsmen at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology he visited on Monday to inquire after the health of party’s National Assembly candidate Tariq Badruddin Bandey who suffered a heart attack a couple of days ago.

Shujaat said central leader Pervaiz Elahi would soon visit other provinces in connection with the election campaign.

To a query about Dr Qadeer Khan, he said he was not under arrest but all measures had been taken due to security reasons.
