TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 28: Citizens blocked traffic for more than three hours on Monday on Gojra-Samundri Road in protest against a theft incident at a super store.

Reports said thieves broke into a departmental store on Sunday night and took away goods worth Rs500,000.

The protesters held a demonstration and chanted slogans against the police. Later PML-N candidate for NA-92 M Hamza and other parties’ activists also joined them.

Speaking on the occasion, Hamza said the police had completely failed to control the incidence of robbery and theft. He said that was the fourth theft incident at the store in a few weeks, but the police could not find clue to a single case.

Hamza said three days ago cold storage of his younger brother Zahid Husain was looted by dacoits wearing police uniform who took away valuables worth over Rs1 million.

VISIT: Punjab PML-N president Pervaiz Elahi will address a public meeting here on Wednesday in Committee Bagh.

Former provincial minister and PML-Q PP-86 candidate, Dr Ashfaqur Rehman, former district nazim Muhammad Ashfaq and others will also address on the occasion.

Later Pervaiz Elahi will also address a public meeting at Gojra.
