ISLAMABD, Jan 28: Extremely disturbed by fierce clashes between security forces and militants taking place in Fata and some settled areas of the NWFP, caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro said on Monday that the government would not allow any disruption in the process of progress and development in the area.
Addressing a meeting on security situation in the area, he said development projects had been undertaken to bring about improvement in people’s living standard.
He said the will of the people for a prosperous future was stronger than the ulterior motives of certain elements who did not want peace and prosperity in the area.
Mr Soomro said the desire of the people of Fata for improving security environment and expansion of development programme was a source of encouragement.
He called for a multi-pronged strategy to bring about a positive change in the socio-economic condition of the people.
He also called for community involvement for early completion of development projects.
The prime minister said that besides development there was need to improve the capacity of people through training programmes.
He directed the Fata Development Authority to speed up its development activities in various sectors, including construction of small dams, mineral exploration projects as well as providing clean drinking water.
