OPF employees threaten protest

Published January 29, 2008

ISLAMABAD, Jan 28: Employees of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) on Monday warned that they would launch a countrywide protest movement if their demands lingering for years were not accepted within a week.

The warning was issued when high officials of the OPF including the caretaker minister were attending a periodical meeting of the board of directors here.

The OPF union leaders said the meeting failed to take any concrete decision or do anything for the implementation of its earlier decisions.

The OPF employees observed the day as a protest day and displayed banners and posters inscribed with their demands in the OPF office building.

Their demands included implementation of decisions regarding OPF employees taken in the board meeting in July, 2007, regularisation of all staff working in the head office on contract basis for the last many years and promotion of all employees whose upgradation was due.—Staff Reporter
