Man shot dead in scuffle

ISLAMABAD, Jan 24: A man was shot dead over a petty issue here on Thursday, police said.

A carpenter, Rafi Masih (50), was present at a shop of his brother-in-law in Alipur Farash when he somehow he entered into a verbal clash with another person, MR.

After abusing each other, the two men started scuffling and MR pulled out his 30-bore pistol and shot Rafi at point-blank range.

The carpenter was hit in the head and he died on the spot. The alleged killer managed to escape from the crime scene.

Rafi’s body was shifted to a hospital by the police to fulfil legal formalities. The police are hunting for the accused, who had been charged with murder.

GAS EXPLOSION: A man suffered burn injuries in a gas leak blast here on Thursday, police said.

The incident occurred in a house located in G-11/1 when Abdul Aziz struck a match to ignite a room heater as he prepared to offer Fajr prayers.

According to the police, gas leaking from the cylinder had filled the room which caused the explosion. After the initial blast, the gas cylinder also exploded.

Mr Aziz sustained severe burn injuries and was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) where doctors gave him first aid and later referred him to the Rawalpindi General Hospital considering his critical condition.
