ISLAMABAD, Jan 12: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) will launch campaign against non-pattern vehicles registration number plates by January 16 and warned vehicle owners to display plates according to the prescribed format.

Senior Superintendent of Traffic Police Mohammad Zubair Hashmi warned the owners that no relaxation would be given to anyone after January 16.

A campaign had been initiated about one-and-a-half months ago by the ITP to standardise registration number plates of the vehicles in the city. Drivers and car owners were being educated during this period and banners with instructions about the right format of number plates had been installed.

The SSP asked citizens to avoid displaying non-pattern registration number plates on their vehicles and instead use plates according to the prescribed format as mentioned in Motor Vehicle Ordinance and Rules.

He said after January 16 the ITP would issue violation tickets and impound such vehicles under relevant laws for displaying non-pattern registration plates.
