Five missiles land near Peshawar

By Ali Hazrat Bacha

PESHAWAR, Jan 8: Five missiles landed in the Garrison Colony on the Warsak Road, 20km from here, early on Tuesday.

A police official told Dawn that eight missiles were fired towards Peshawar at 2.30am, most probably from the Machini Area of Mohmand Agency, but no loss of life or property was reported.

“It seemed that the target was the (military) officers’ residences,” said the official.

He added that three of the missiles had exploded, making craters in the ground.

Police condoned off the area after the incident and the officials concerned visited the site, but it was not yet clear as to who had fired the missiles.

The Garrison Colony is situated in the limits of Matra police station.
