LAHORE, Jan 3: Pakistan’s ace Aisam-ul-Haq, partnering with Marin Cilic of Croatia, reached the quarter-finals of the ATP Chennai Open doubles, beating the Indian pair of Mustafa Ghouse and Karan Rastogi on Wednesday.

This is the first time Aisam has paired with Cilic, who himself is an upcoming player on the singles circuit.

Aisam and Cilic, despite taking a dismal start as the latter’s service had been broken in the first game, won the opening set 6-4. The second set went to a tie-breaker as Aisam and Cilic won 6-4, 7-6 (1).

Aisam and his partner now face the pair of second seeded Czech Jaroslav Levinsky and the Slovak Michal Mertinak.
