PESHAWAR: Christmas celebrated

Published December 26, 2007

PESHAWAR, Dec 25: Christmas was celebrated with religious zeal in the NWFP amid tight security during the mass service in the churches.

Special prayers for peace and prosperity were offered on Monday night in the churches in the provincial capital. The churches were illuminated.

The law-enforcement agencies were on high alert and security measures were taken outside the churches.

Members of the Christian community greeted each other and gatherings were arranged at various locations.

ANP’s additional secretary-general also attended a gathering. He said it was sad that powerful nations were exploiting and torturing small groups and minorities.—Bureau
