KHAR: 35 to contest elections for two Bajaur seats

KHAR, Dec 3: The returning officers on Monday completed the scrutiny of nomination papers filed by politicians contesting the elections on the NA-43 and NA-44 constituencies of the Bajaur Agency.

A total of 37 candidates had filed their papers for two National Assembly seats from the area. During the scrutiny of nomination papers, returning officers accepted the papers of 35 candidates and rejected nominations of two aspirants.

The candidates whose papers were rejected were Hafiz Gul Badshah who wanted to contest the election for NA-43 seat and Gul Karim Khan who had filed his nomination for NA-44 seat.

In a related development, tribal elders and Ulema of the agency had assured the political administration of their full cooperation in the maintenance of law and order situation in the area.

The elders called on the agency’s Political Agent Shafeerullah Khan in Khar on Monday, and assured him of their full cooperation for maintaining peace in the area.

Earlier, a tribal jirga had proposed to authorities to postpone the election in the Bajaur Agency on account of the deteriorating law and order situation there.
