KARACHI: Education officer’s bail plea dismissed
The bench gave the counsel for a triple murder convict to argue his petition for making the murder offence under the Anti-Terrorism Act compoundable under the law of Qisas and Diyet. Petitioner Ali Nawaz Khoso was sentenced to death for killing three brothers, Jamal Noor, Salman Noor and Shadab Noor and injuring a fourth, Adil Noor Khan, during a robbery at their bungalow in Darakhshan, Clifton, in August 1998. He was tried by a military court set up in 1998 by the Nawaz Sharif government and declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. His case was later transferred to an anti-terrorism court, which sentenced him to death three times over. He also moved a petition for making murder compoundable by the heirs of victim/s under the ATA. His counsel is not appearing in the case and the bench granted a last adjournment to enable him to argue the petition.
