THATTA, Nov 14: Great Tambooro player, Preen Palari, who would enthral audience by his deeply touching play on strings, died here on Wednesday after protracted illness.

He leaves behind three sons and two daughters to mourn his death. His mortal remains were laid to rest in Dargah Satyoon near his native village Digar Palari in the forenoon in which a large number of his admirers including adviser to Sindh Chief Minister for forest, Syed Aijaz Ali Shah Shirazi, and relatives took part.

What made Palari more famous and earned him several awards was his singular work of composition of Shah Latif’s poetry in Kohistani style.

He would usually shy away from performing in marriage ceremonies and fairs and would prefer to enthral devotees at the many shrines of Sufis in Sindh.

Regrettably, no official from the Sindh Culture Department extended any help to the great Tamboora player during his illness. His relatives said that Syed Aijaz Ali Shah Shirazi had borne the expenses of his treatment.

He chose his elder son Atta Mohammad Palari as his disciple and taught him to play the five stringed instrument, which is revered in Sindh because it was invented by none other than the great Sufi saint and poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai himslef.
