Sale of rare falcon foiled

By Sadia Qasim Shah

PESHAWAR, Nov 13: The NWFP wildlife department recovered a rare falcon from a Saudi national at a guest house in Peshawar and arrested two local traders on Tuesday, officials said.

The bird, which has been declared an endangered species under the Wildlife Act, was being smuggled to Saudi Arabia.

Israr Khan, Divisional Forest Officer, of the NWFP wildlife department told Dawn that a party headed by Hanifullah raided the Luxury Guest-House on the Old Bara Road after receiving information about the falcon.

The officials arrested Mumtaz and Farooq, residents of Peshawar.
