CSA decision on Zimbabwe put off

DURBAN, Oct 24: Plans to include Zimbabwe in South Africa’s domestic competitions have been postponed pending a Cricket South Africa (CSA) board meeting on Friday.

CSA said on Monday that Zimbabwe’s senior team would play in South Africa’s franchised first-class, one-day and Twenty20 competitions.

A CSA media release quoted its general manager of cricket operations, Brian Basson, as saying the move had been prompted by an International Cricket Council request that “all full member countries ... assist Zimbabwe in the development of their cricket”.

On Wednesday, a CSA release said the plan had been postponed until after Friday’s board meeting.

Zimbabwe were to have played the Highveld Lions in a first-class Supersport Series match in Harare on Sunday.
