KARACHI, Oct 23: Five ships carrying containers and coal are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side where six ships, Angnsia, China Star, Global Progress and MOL Ability to unload and load containers, Gonna to load cement and Akaki to offload crude oil were berthed on Tuesday.

Sailing on the other hand was slow as only two vessels, Wan Hai-315 and Ambrosla departed, while Multan China Star, Zang Za San Chong Nyon, Akaki and MOL Ability are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Cargo handling activity on the wharves on the other hand showed a considerable improvement as total tonnage rose to 0.153m tons comprising 14,338 tons of export cargo and 0.139m tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Wednesday; APL Brisbane, Hyundai Future, Cap Colorado and Harmony with containers Med Carrara and Alfred Oldendroff with coal.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, Oct 23: Eight more ships carrying containers, diesel oil, crude oil, chemicals and general cargo arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, two ships to load and offload containers and furnace oil were accommodated berths at QICT and Fotco Terminal. Berth occupancy was maintained at 60pc as six ships, Nedlloyd Amrica, Skipper Ali, Berenice, Tainjin Pioneer, Chem Lily and Al-Debaran, were busy in loading and unloading containers, cement, seeds, edible oil and furnace oil.

A cargo volume of 80,219 tons comprising 57,699 tons of import and 22,520 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing was slow as only Al-Salam-II left the port while Nedlloyd America, Tianjin Poineer and Berenice were expected to depart.
