SHANGHAI, Oct 11: Pakistan finished its campaign at the Special Olympics with a total of 43 medals including 14 gold, 15 silver and 14 bronze as the Games concluded here amid lot of fanfare on Thursday.

On the last day of the 10-day competition, Pakistan added three more gold medals, beside a silver medal and a bronze to their credit.

Kaleem won a gold in men’s tennis singles by beating Denial Cumming of Australia in straight sets and Najma Vohra won the other gold in individual skills of the event. Another Pakistani girl Sana Syed won a silver also on the basis of individual skill assessment procedure.

The organizing committee of the Special Olympics World Summer Games had evolved their own rules, keeping in view the strength of the special athletes.

Another gold was added by Shehla and Zubi in the badminton doubles event when they beat the Macau pair in the last match of the competition.

Pakistani athletes could not live up to the expectation today in the girls and boys 4X100 relay races as both their teams could not finish inside top three positions.

In cycling, Iqra Batool finished third with 2.34 time and won a bronze.—APP
