MIRPURKHAS: Godown raids yield hoarded flour

MIRPURKHAS, Oct 11: A huge quantity of wheat flour stocked in different godowns was recovered in different police raids and the hoarders and chakki owners were fined under the Ehtram Ramazan Ordinance here on Thursday.

The deputy district officer revenue, Mirpurkhas, Jawad Akram, along with the police conducted the raid at a godown of Imran Suleman in Satellite town and recovered 741 bags of wheat flour and imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on the owner.

The raids were also carried in Hirabad and the police recovered 484 bags of flour from the godown of Sirajuddin, and 741 bags from another godown and slapped fined of Rs25,000 at each godown owner.

Maqsood, an owner of a chakki, was fined with Rs3000 for not displaying the flour price list.

Two persons Anwar and Amjad were fined with Rs2000 and Rs5000 respectively under the Ramazan Ordinance for violation the ordinance.

ACCIDENT: Two people were seriously injured when a pick-up hit their motorbike at Raja Rasti near Sindhri on Wednesday night.

Report said that the speedy vehicle hit the motorbike as a result of which both the pillion riders, Pir Mohammad and Kehar Maher, were seriously injured.

The injured were referred for LMUH Hyderabad after providing with first aid at Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas.

FIRE: A fire broke out in a tailoring shop at the Thar stand in Umerkot on Thursday morning in which five sewing machines and hundreds of suits were reduced to ashes.

ARRESTED: Two suspected criminals were arrested from Ring road near Juman Shah More on Wednesday night, said the Satellite Town police.

According to the police, they raided at a place and arrested two suspects. Police claimed they recovered a TT pistol, four rounds and an axe from their possession.
