KARACHI, Oct 8: A young man’s body was found stuffed in a gunny bag in the Mewashah graveyard on Monday.

The identity of the deceased, believed to be in his 20s, could not be ascertained. According to police, the man was strangulated to death. A telephone wire was found tied around his neck.

Police shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy where doctors confirmed the cause of his death. The body was later shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification.

Exhumation

A medical board will exhume the body of a man who was found dead in mysterious circumstances in the room of a hotel in Saddar in August.

The board constituted for the purpose is headed by police surgeon Dr Bashir Shaikh, forensic expert Prof Farhat Mirza, pathologist Dr Munir Soomro and medico-legal officer Dr Karar Abbasi.

The decision has been taken to ascertain the actual reason for the death of the man identified as Saleem Khan, 53.

According to police, the deceased had been staying in the hotel after returning from abroad. He had divorced his wife and his son lives abroad.

Police said that he had some monetary issues to settle with his friends. Following the death, Mr Khan’s sister filed a complaint with the police alleging that Saleem Khan had been poisoned and did not die of excessive drinking as claimed by his friends, police said.
