LAHORE, Oct 3: Islamabad and Lahore Shalimar won their respective matches in the Inter-region Under-19 three-day cricket tournament on Wednesday.
Islamabad registered a three-wicket win against Lahore Ravi at the Country Club, Muridke. Interestingly, the match was, overnight, heading for a draw after both the teams had piled up 300-plus runs in their first innings.
Islamabad had conceded a three-run lead in the first innings after scoring 306 in reply to Lahore Ravi’s total of 309. But Lahore Ravi declared their second innings at 209-5, setting a winning target of 213, which Islamabad successfully chased for the loss of seven wickets.
Meanwhile, Lahore Shalimar inflicted a 10-wicket defeat opon Karachi Urban at the LCCA ground, Lahore.
Karachi Urban, after being forced to follow-on, were bowled out for 159 in their second innings, giving a one-run win target to Lahore Shalimar, who achieved it without any loss.
APP adds from Karachi: Pacer Adil Raza picked seven wickets for 71 as Sialkot routed Hyderabad by an innings and 148 runs in their inter-region match at the Sindh University Ground, Jamshoro on Wednesday.
Adil, who had remained wicketless in Hyderabad’s first innings, crushed their batting line-up as they were bundled out for 159 in their second innings. Shabih Abbas scored a defiant 67 with six boundaries.
At Landhi Gymkhana Ground here in Karachi, Karachi Harbour held Faisalabad to an exciting draw with the hosts’ last pair ending at 173-9.
At the KRL Ground, Rawalpindi defeated Peshawar by eight wickets. Rawalpindi reached the winning target of 47 for the loss of two wickets before lunch.
The match between Multan and Quetta ended in a draw at the Gymkhana Ground, Okara. Quetta ended at 201-9 in their second innings after being set 337 to win.
