Taiz Per powers to magnificent victory

KARACHI, Oct 3: Fancied three-year-old bay filly Taiz Per powered to a magnificent six lengths victory to land day’s honours in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse (KRC) on Wednesday.

Running like a champion she set the pace right from the word go and beat filly Leopard Of Arab with ease to make it two-on-trot.

The filly from the stables of Pir Pagara was successfully ridden home by Ghulam Shabbir II and saddled by Allah Judrio.

Another filly Hi Darling finished four-and-a-half lengths away to secure third place while colt Red Rufus completed the frame finishing further three-and-a-half lengths behind.

Riding on the crest of a wave three-year-old chestnut filly Sahibzadi stretched her winning streak when she outpaced colt Khyber by three lengths to claim feature event.

This was her fourth win in a row which also enabled rider Shabbir to come out with a brace of winners in back-to-back races. The two were followed by Sir Jee and Silent Angel.

Apart from Taiz Per and Sahibzadi, Dawn had two more winners – Raaz and Sweet Grandy - in a card of six.

Favourite ten-year-old bay Raaz galloped to two-and-a-half lengths victory over colt Captain Cook to clinch the opener under rider Riaz Mohammad while mare Sweet Grandy edged co-favourite mare Priceless by three lengths with M. Yousuf in the saddle.

Favourite Dr. Dre also came out with shining performance when he registered a facile five lengths victory over Trust Again to make it two-in-a-row in the fifth race.

Jan-e-Mir with no form worth pulled off the only upset of the day beating public fancy mare Marista in the second race.

Meanwhile, the next Gymkhana race meeting will be held on Oct 21.
