Three held for unauthorised sale of sugar

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 3: Golra police have arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in black marketing of sugar, police said here on Wednesday.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Saddar Circle Farhan Zahid had received information that some employees of the utility store located near Golra shrine were involved in selling subsidised sugar to other shopkeepers in Rawalpindi. These shopkeepers further sold them to consumers on high rates.

He therefore directed SHO Golra police station Abid Ikram to trace the gang of black marketeers that was selling utility store’s sugar in the market.

Under the supervision of SHO Ikram, a team was constituted which raided the utility store and recovered 2,600kg of sugar from them. Police also arrested an in-charge and his assistant for their alleged involvement in black marketing.
