World wants fair polls in Pakistan

SIALKOT, Sep 24: British Deputy High Commissioner Simon Butt said on Monday the world was watching the political situation ahead of the general elections in Pakistan. He said this at a meeting with businessmen at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

Mr Butt said only free and fair election could bring about sustainability in Pakistan. He said the United Kingdom (UK) supported fair elections in Pakistan and the UK and the European Union would provide all support to the Election Commission of Pakistan for the purpose. British High Commission’s officials, SCCI President Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal, Dr Sarfraz Bashir and Raza Muneer were also present.
