Power outage leads to water crisis

By Our Correspondent

BADIN, Sept 24: Water supply to Badin and other towns of the district, including Talhar and Kadhan, has been either suspended or disturbed for the last three days as pumping stations at the water supply networks have been hit by power outage.

At least 200,000 people of the towns are braving hardships due to negligence of the Hesco authorities and lack of interest on the part the area nazims in solving the problem.

Meanwhile tanker mafia and donkey cart owners are fleecing the people as one water tin is being sold for Rs15.

People took out rally here on Monday against the Hesco officials for failing to restore power supply and also against the nazims for not arranging alternative supply of water.

When contacted, SDO, Hesco, Badin, Sher Mohammad Koondhar, confirmed that main power supply from Hyderabad to the grid stations of Badin, Talhar and Kadhan had been suspended as some electric poles of 66kv had fallen down.
