75 channels to be operative by year-end: Durrani

ISLAMABAD, Sept 21: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani said on Friday that 75 private television channels would be fully operative by the end of the year.

He informed Ms Candace Putnam, acting US deputy chief of mission, and Elizabeth K. Mayfield, counsellor public affairs, who called on him here at his office, that a number of steps had been taken for ensuring independence of the media which helped develop vibrant and dynamic media institutions in the country.—APP
