Indian troops kill nine Kashmiris

SRINAGAR, Sept 18: Indian troops killed nine militants in occupied Kashmir, the army and police said on Tuesday.

Indian army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Anil Mathur claimed that three militants were shot dead in the northern Machil sector on Monday night, just minutes after crossing the Line of Control.

He claimed that over the past ten days, Indian troops have killed 11 militants attempting to cross from Pakistan.

Five other militants were shot dead during two separate gun battles early on Tuesday in the district of Bandipora, a police spokesman said.—AFP
