Pims doctors call off strike

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 13: Postgraduates (PGs) and House Officers (HOs) of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Thursday called off their strike after the hospital management assured them of increasing their stipend before Eidul Fitr.

During the one-and-a-half day long struggle of doctors, the worst sufferers of the episode were patients, who either visited the hospital or admitted in it. A large number of patients who came to the Out Patient Departments was seen around the department.

Some people were of the view that the doctors have a right to strike for their demands, but the profession could not allow them to be absent form their duties.

The strike was formally called off at around 1:30pm after negotiation, which was held between the delegation of protesters and Dean of Quaid-i-Azam Post Graduate Medical College, Wajahat Bangash and Prof Imran Sikandar.
