MARDAN, Sept 11: At least five people, including three women, were shot dead and four others injured in three different incidents in Mardan district on Monday night.

In the first incident, Qadar Gul of Dargai, along with his accomplice Nawab Khan of Batkhela, allegedly broke into the house of Yousuf Shah on Monday night and opened indiscriminate fire on his family members, killing his wife Taj Sultana and sister Feroza. His two sons, Sher Mohammad Khan and Sheharyar Khan, sustained injuries in the attack.

The motive was stated to be Mr Shah’s refusal to give the hand of his sister to one of the accused.

The incident took place in the limits of the Jibbar police station. Nobody had been arrested till the filing of this report.

In another incident in the Lund Khwar area, three brothers — Taj Mohammad, Fazl Subhan and Pir Mohammad — allegedly opened fire on Nawab Shah and his wife Zaibul Manoon, killing them on the spot, while Nawab’s two sons were wounded.

The motive of the attack is said to be a petty dispute.

Nawab’s relatives have lodged an FIR against the accused at the Lund Khwar police station.

In the third incident, one Dilaram allegedly stabbed to death his brother Tamrez over a domestic issue.
