Officer denied bail; arrested

LAHORE, Sept 3: A serving army Major was arrested after the rejection of his bail by an Anti-Corruption Court for his involvement in a fraud case here on Monday.

The custody of Maj Waseem Gill was later handed over to the military police, said a policeman of the South Cantonment police station.

Farzand had lodged a complaint with the police that Waseem got a plot transferred in his name, but refused to pay the price.

The FIR (444/07) registered under sections 406 and 468 of the PPC said that Wasim had offered Farzand another plot in lieu of the one he had bought from him. But, later it transpired that the major never had the possession of the land. The accused is presently serving in Lahore. —Reporter
