NAWABSHAH, Aug 31: St-udents of Quaid-i-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology Nawabshah boycotted classes and took out a rally against the non-availability of facilities at the varsity on Friday.
They said that there were no bulbs and fans in the hostel and even clean drinking water was not available.
They further said that the university dispensary was under control of the Rangers and the students were also not provided medical treatment. The students were carrying placards and raising slogans against the university administration.
Students Shuhab Soomro, Zeeshan Ali, Niaz Jakhrani and others told reporters that there was shortage of facilities in the university.
They demanded of the governor Sindh to take notice and direct the university administration to provide facilities to the students.
New transformer: The loadshedding and low voltage problem in Nawabshah, Naushahro Feroze, Dadu, Sanghar and parts of Khairpur and Larkana districts would alleviate after energising a new 160MVA transformer at 500KV grid station in Dadu, on Friday.
The 160MVA transformer was burnt at 500KV grid station in Dadu on Aug 2 due to short circuit and continuous overloading creating a shortage for Hesco.
The transformer was installed with a cost of Rs80 million at the Dadu grid station.
An official told Dawn that Hesco was facing shortage of at least 150 megawatts and was carrying out long hour loadshedding after the incident.
