NAWABSHAH: Teachers seekremoval of HEC chief

NAWABSHAH, Aug 23: The Teachers’ Association of Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology Nawabshah has demanded removal of Chairman Higher Education Commission, Prof Attaur Rehman, and all retired vice chancellors working on extension.

A general body meeting of the Quaid-e-Awam University Teachers’ Welfare Association was held on Thursday and presided over by Liaquat Ali Tunio. Members alleged Prof Attaur Rehman of deceiving teachers by failing to issue directives of their upgrading.

They said QUEST administration had also not accepted their demands and was continuously ignoring the teaching faculty.

The meeting demanded removal of all retired vice chancellors, scholarships to teachers from self-finance funds of Rs140 million, provision of basic facilities including computer laboratory, clean drinking water and others in teachers’ hostel and vacating university bungalow from the possession of Rangers. They warned of hunger strike and rallies against the VC and administration if their demands were not met.

RALLY: PML-N activists took a rally out and celebrated outside press club the decision of Supreme Court on Thursday. The rally began from the PML-N House and ended at local press club. Participants carried party flags and danced on the beat of drums.

Speakers Sardar Abdul Hameed Khoso, Aslam Khenchi, Mohammad Hussain and others hailed the decision of Supreme Court and added that the decision would end dictatorship forever.
