KARACHI, Aug 22: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has granted a licence to Lucky Cement Limited for export of cement to India.
The Lucky claims that it is the first local company which has been allowed to sell cement to Indian markets.
Muhammad Abid Ganatra, director finance of the company, in a press statement released here on Wednesday said that the cement demand in India was growing at 10-12 per cent annually on the back of ongoing massive construction activities there.
The surplus cement exports to India would not only fetch foreign exchange but also help reducing existing trade imbalance, he added.
