By Mushtaq Paracha

NOWSHERA, Aug 20: Armed men looted a bank and took away cash worth Rs1.3 million here on Monday. Branch manager Muslim Commercial Bank, Pabbi, Jan Saeed told reporters that two armed men had entered the bank who attacked him and a security guard when he was closing the main gate.

Six other armed men then also entered the bank and made the entire staff hostage on gunpoint.

The manager said the armed men asked the cashier to handover the cash. He said the cashier had set off a security alarm following which people had gathered in front of the bank. However, the robbers managed to escape in two cars after snatching about Rs1.3 million.

Hundreds of shopkeepers in Pabbi bazaar pelted stones on the vehicles of dacoits.

DIG Mardan Ghulam Mohammad and District Police Officer Qazi Jameel reached the venue.

They said a case had been registered against the unknown looters and police would investigate the case.

They said that some important clues had been found which would help investigators to ascertain the identity of the robbers.
